Subject: Support for George Zoupanos

Dear Colleagues,

Our friend and colleague Professor George Zoupanos, was  the victim of severe beating from
people of the night back in the year 2008. The events have been shown on national TV and a
popular Greek television show. Despite the strong support by the academic community, the
testimony of esteemed colleagues at the court and the overwhelming evidence (videos, photos and
official medical records), the court decided to sentence George to four months suspended jail
time for allegedly beating his aggressor. This has been a case of obvious miscarriage of justice
that has left all of us that lived through it in awe and anger.
