Subject: [esf-qg] Online Mini-Course on Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime

Dear colleague,

The AQFTUK research network, supported by the London Mathematical Society, is organising a 6 hour mini-course on Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime in the second week of October
(12.10.-16.10.). It is aimed at postgraduate students unfamiliar with the topic, although some preliminary knowledge of elementary differential geometry (notions of manifold,
(co)tangent bundle, covariant derivative), as well as some familiarity with quantum mechanics and standard quantum field theory would be helpful.

The course will cover some of the underlying concepts of the algebraic approach to quantum field theory in curved spacetime and discuss several physically relevant examples. The focus
will be on the linear (i.e., non-interacting) scalar field, favouring depth over breadth.

The lectures will be held by Daniel Siemssen (University of York) and Matteo Capoferri (Cardiff University) via Zoom.

We would be grateful if you could inform potentially interested students about these lectures. Further information and a sign-up form can be found
at https://www.lqp2.org/aqftuk_minicourse.

Best wishes,

Alexander Schenkel
