Dear all,

the 2022 GGI Tea Breaks’ series has a great start!

We are happy to announce a Special Edition dedicated to the research of Steven Weinberg, its impact and legacy in theoretical physics. He was a founding father of the theory of
fundamental interactions and one of the greatest theoretical physicists of the last century. His work has been a source of inspiration and guidance for generations of physicists and is
at the heart of current front-line research.

The programme of “Steven Weinberg and his legacy” includes four talks, each focused on a particular broad area of research where the work of Weinberg led to breakthrough progress. His
contribution will be put into historical context and its relevance for present-day research will be discussed.

It will take place via Zoom at https://infn-it.zoom.us/j/88983361194

on  Wednesday January 19th at 3:00 PM (CET)

The talks will be given by:

Riccardo Barbieri (SNS Pisa), The Standard Model of particle physics

Howard M. Georgi (Harvard University),  Effective field theories and the low-energy limit of strong interactions

Edward Witten (IAS Princeton),  On the role and meaning of symmetries in field theory

Nima Arkani-Hamed (IAS Princeton),  Gravity as an effective field theory and the cosmological constant

Ample space for questions will be allocated after each talk, and for discussion at the end of the event.

We have also created an online Q&A space. You can submit your question by filling the form. The answers will be published soon after.

Please forward this announcement to anyone who might be interested.
We wait for your participation
