Subject: World Conference on Physics and Sustainable Development

Dear Colleague,

As you may know, the World Conference on Physics and Sustainable Development
will be held in Durban, South Africa, 31 October - 2 November 2005,
www.wcpsd.org. The World Conference will focus the international physics
community toward sustainable development goals centered on the following
four themes: physics and health, physics education, energy and the
environment, and physics and economic development. It is expected that 500 -
600 physicists from around the world as well as representatives of physics
organizations and the private sector will participate.

Could you help us remind colleagues about the World Conference and that the
deadline to apply for travel grants is this coming Friday, 1 July? The
conference organizers expect to be able to offer about 250 travel grants for
physicists from developing countries and Eastern Europe. Additional
information is available at www.wcpsd.org/travel/index.cfm#CP_JUMP_1174.

Thank you for your efforts to help us publicize this opportunity.

Sincerely,
Michele Irwin
