Dear colleagues,

You are cordially invited to the BioPhysLab seminar, which will be held (in person!) on Wednesday,  December 7th 2022 at 12:00 in the library reading room “Dr. Dragan Popović" of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The talk entitled

"Capillary flow disturbances in an animal model of Alzheimer's disease"

will be given by Dr. Eugenio Gutiérrez, assistant professor (Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience, Institute of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark)

The abstract of the talk:

Alzheimer's disease (AD) shares many risk factors with cardiovascular diseases, and much evidence shows that AD involves a cerebrovascular component. AD patients display disturbances in brain hemodynamics characterized by decreased cerebral blood flow (CBF) during steady-state conditions. It has been suggested that disturbances in capillary hemodynamics heavily impact the development of AD. In this presentation, we will discuss recent results of experiments applying optical imaging and molecular techniques to examine the vascular changes in a murine model of AD. We will also discuss the effect of a potential drug for treating AD that improves vascular impairment in the AD model.
The talk will have both optical and medical approach on imaging by Bessel beam, mainly from the application on moving animals.

Sincerely,
