You are cordially invited to the public lecture “Reality in Superposition: From Counterintuitive Physics to the Quantum Technology Revolution”, to be given by Sofia Vallecorsa (CERN) at the Belgrade City Library on Monday 21st of September at 19.00.
Lecture abstract:
Quantum physics challenges our everyday picture of reality: how can something exist in a superposition of states, and what happens when we measure it? This public lecture will take these questions as a starting point to explore how once-puzzling quantum ideas are becoming technologies—from computing and communication to sensing—and what they might mean for science and society.
Lecturer:
Sofia Vallecorsa, a physicist at CERN, coordinator of the CERN Quantum Technology Initiative and head of CERN’s Computing and Data Science section, will take us on an accessible journey into the quantum world. The lecture will explore how quantum ideas are being transformed into technologies, from quantum computing and communication to quantum sensing, and what this technological revolution could bring to science and society.
The lecture is organised as part of the First Training School of the COST Action “Machine Learning and Quantum Computing for Future Colliders” (MLQC4FC), in collaboration with the Institute of Physics Belgrade and the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade.
