Sasa Dujko (LGE member) presented a talk about topics in his PhD work completed in the School of Engineering and Physical Science at James Cook University, Australia. The PhD title is 'The Multi-term Boltzmann Equation Analysis and Monte Carlo Study of Hydrodynamic and Non-Hydrodynamic Charged Particle Swarms'.

The paper 'Total and positronium formation cross sections for positron scattering from H2O and HCOOH' by C. Makochekanwa, A. Bankovic, W. Tattersall, A. Jones, P. Caradonna, D. S. Slaughter, K. Nixon, M. J. Brunger, Z. Petrovic, J. P. Sullivan and S. J. Buckman is a result of collaboration between Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, Institute of Physics Belgrade, Serbia, James Cook University, Townsville, Australia and Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia. Members of LGE group, prof. Zoran Petrovic, Sasa Dujko and Zeljka Nikitovic contributed the 62nd Gaseous Electronics Conference in Saratoga Springs, NY, USA. Prof. Petrovic was a chairmen at the pre-conference workshop: Advances in the Kinetic Description of Low-Temperature Plasmas: Applications to Modeling and Simulation and Sasa Dujko presented lecture 'Recent advancements in the kinetic theory of hydrodynamic and non-hydrodynamic charged particle swarms in gases'. Prof. Zoran Petrovic teaches subject 'Collisions and transport processes in ionized gases' on a master course of School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade. Lectures will be held at the Institute of Physics during summer semester 2008/2009.

Andreja Stojic participated the 4th International Conference on Proton Transfer Mass Spectrometry and its Applications and a training course Hands on PTR-MS in Obergurgl, Austria. He presented two posters: 'Assessment of ambient VOCs levels in Belgrade semi-urban area' and 'In vitro selection of nepetalactone-rich genotypes of Nepeta rtanjensis by using HPLC and PTR-MS'.

A BSEC (Black Sea Economic Cooperation) project 'Revitalization of urban ecosystems through vascular plants: assessment of technogenic pollution impact', Metaphor: GARDEN CITY, proposed by Institute of Botany-BAS, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey was signed in November 2008. The purpose of the project is to make an expert examination of accumulation of heavy metals and other toxic elements of industrial and transport emissions by various tree and bush species with the aim to find sorts capable to accumulate the maximal number of pollutants and to resist the effect of adverse anthropogenic factors. The other purpose is to compare bioaccumulation of toxic elements in woody species in the areas of temperate-continental and subtropical Black Sea climate. For more information see BSEC website.

Members of the LGE participated at the 61st Annual Gaseous Electronics Conference in Dallas, Texas. Prof. dr Zoran Petrovic together with Prof. Paul Maguire gave invited lecture 'Micro-Discharge Scaling and Development from Centimetres to Microns: DC and RF Breakdown and Discharge Characterization around the Paschen Minimum' (abstract). Prof. Eiliv Steinnes from Department of Chemistry of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology visited Centre for nonequilibrium processes in October and held an invited lecture "Distribution and fate of metals supplied to Norway by long-range atmospheric transport". The results of the analysis of moss bags completed in the Department of Chemistry of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Throndheim during the one month stay of Mira Anicic in February 2008 were discussed. Plans for further cooperation were prepared as well.

PhD Marija Radmilovic Radjenovic (Associate Research Professor), together with other members of Laboratory for Gaseuos Electronics, took part in XXVIII ICPIG in Prague, Czech Republic. She held invited topic lecture "Modeling of the gas breakdown in microgaps and 3D profile evolution during plasma etching".

M.Sc. Mira Anicic, research assistant, participated in Fourth International Summer School and Workshop: "Nuclear Physics Methods and Accelerators in Biology and Medicine" from 8 to 19 July, 2007, in Prague, Czech Republic. She received a Summer School Excellency Award for best student talk.

13-19.06.2007.
New equipment from HIDEN Analytical: ESPion – Advanced Langmuir Probe for Plasma Diagnostics and HPR-60 Molecular Beam Sampling Mass Spectrometer installed successfully. Y. Aranda Gonzalvo, from HIDEN Analytical, managed instalation and showed basic operating techniques. First measurement with the ESPion probe were conducted and some of the Mass Analyzer features were tested. Final installment is expected in the beginning of July.

5th EU-Japan Joint Symposium on Plasma Processing: Radicals and Non-Equilibrium processes in Low-Temperature Plasmas was held in Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Institute of Physics, Belgrade.
