QGP Tomography in brief:

ERC consolidator grant: "A novel Quark-Gluon Plasma tomography tool: from jet quenching to exploring the extreme medium properties" – QGP Tomography

Duration: Sept 2017 – Sept 2023

Principle Investigator: Dr. Magdalena Djordjevic, Institute of Physics Belgrade, Serbia

Research

"QGP Tomography" develops a novel tool for inferring the properties of an extreme form of matter, called Quark Gluon Plasma.

Team

Spans high pt and low pt QGP physics, exploring their interconnections, with expertise in both numerical simulations and analytical (finite temperature field theory) calculations.

Project Results

  • 20 papers published in high impact journals up to now, one more under revision, and several in preparation.
  • Developed state-of-the-art DREENA computational framework, for precision QGP tomography.
  • Puts massive LHC and RHIC (both low and high pt) QGP data to optimal use.
  • Presented as 18 invited and 24 contributed talks, and 11 invited seminars at major research centers.

ERC project in popular Media

  • >50 interviews : TV, newspapers, radio shows…
  • Front-pages of highest circular newspapers: Politika, Vecernje Novosti, Danas.
  • Highest viewed TV news/shows (RTS, Pink, TV Prva, TV Kopernikus, Al Jazeera, Science TV…)
  • Number of lectures and panels for wider public.
