 From a Single Duality to a Web: Bailey Chains in Supersymmetric Field 
Theory

The Bailey lemma, originally developed in the theory of special 
functions, has found interesting applications in supersymmetric gauge 
theories. It provides a systematic way to generate new identities from 
known ones. When interpreted in terms of supersymmetric partition 
functions, this procedure allows us to construct families of dual gauge 
theories starting from a single duality. In this talk, I will review the 
role of Bailey chains in supersymmetric theories in two, three and four 
dimensions. I will explain how the mathematical structure of Bailey 
pairs is related to duality transformations and the construction of 
quiver gauge theories. I will also discuss connections with integrable 
lattice models, triangulations of 3-manifolds and knot theory.
