Postovane koleginice i kolege,

iskustvo (videti dole detaljnije).

Medjutim, vazno je napomenuti, ako je neko zaista zainteresovan i
spreman, treba reagovati vrlo brzo jer je deadline za podnosenje
aplikacije (koja treba da sadrzi i opis projekta): 30 April !

Srdacan pozdrav,

Aleksandar

Subject: CERES/CEI call

Dear Aleksandar,

Paola Bolognesi has forwarded to me your answer to her mail about the
call. Thank you very much for giving us a hand.

Below I have tried to summarize a few details. Please feel free to
forward it to anybody that you think might be interested (as it happens
- also thanks to Paola - Miroslav Popovic from the University of
Belgrade has expressed some interest - maybe you know him?).

The deadline is indeed very soon, but the application does not need to
be long. In summary the call is for an “experienced researcher” (=
somebody who already has a PhD, or if not at least 4 full-time years of
research experience after being eligible for a PhD project), and there
will be 4 (I think) fellowships distributed between the “Science
Institutions” in Trieste. The call is for 1 year and no extension (from
the same source) seems to be possible.

We are looking for somebody who would be interested in spending the
time at the Gasphase beamline at Elettra, working (mainly) on two-color
experiments (laser-synchrotron). As 1 year is not a long time some
laser or synchrotron experience would be ideal. The exact subject can be
selected/modified depending on the applicant’s interests, but as it
should produce some results during one year has to be based on existing
instrumentation (with minor changes, if needed). What is needed for the
application are <8000 characters about the project and <4000 characters
about the expected outcome.

Our setup is a tunable Ti: Sapphire oscillator which can run CW or
mode-locked, synchronized with the ring. The experiments that we have
been doing so far used ion (tof) or electron (VMI of hemispherical
analyzer) detection, looking at the spectroscopy of laser-excited
states, or laser ionization of highly (VUV) excited states. This summer
we have some experiments scheduled to measure the internal energy
distribution of dissociative or/and resonant photoionization products
using laser-induced fluorescence.

Therefore one possible project would be the continuation of LiF
experiments. Depending on the outcome of the first experiments some
construction might be involved. We should have most of the things needed
for the application already written (in some form or another).

A second possibility would be to point towards larger molecules, and
look at full-valence photoelectron spectra of excited states. The
species could include some molecules used in e.g. photovoltaic
applications. The available instrumentation includes an oven which has
been used which has been used together with a hemispherical analyzer,
but conditions of evaporation would need to be found first in off-line
experiments.

A third possibility is to propose something that closely relates to the
current research of the (potential) applicant, and which would benefit
from the use of a synchrotron (and hopefully also a laser). This would
require more experience, and would need to be doable without major
modifications to the existing instrumentation.

Thank you very much for your help,
Best Wishes,
Robert

Dear Alexander

I'm writing you because of the Research Fellowship Programme - CERES
-
advertised from Central European Initiative (CEI) for spending one year
at the
Elettra Synchrotron radiation source, Trieste (Italy).

http://www.ceinet.org/CERES?tab=1

People from Serbia, as well as other eastern european countries can
apply, as long as they have Ph.D. or 4 years research experience
(attached to this mail you will find the details)

The deadline for submission of the proposal is very close, 30th of
april.
I wonder if you are aware of young people that could be interested in
such opportunity.
In particular, we are looking for candidates interested to apply for
the Gas Phase beamline.
The scientific project has to be agreed with a senior scientist of
the Gas Phase beamline at Elettra (Dr. Robert Richter) and could
involve two-color experiments (synchrotron + laser), or other
subjects. This can be discussed directly with Robert, which will also
take care of the details of the proposed project and writing up.

I would be very grateful if you could please advertise this call.
Thanks in advance, hope things are going well with you work

best wishes

Paola Bolognesi
