years have passed since our first workshop program. This year we are

UNAM is hosting the 2nd “International Workshop on Cleanroom Training
for Critical and Sustainable Technologies” program between 25 June –
8 July 2012. The workshop is a collaborative initiative of UNIDO and
UNAM, and is supported by the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and
Technology, Turkish International Cooperation & Coordination Agency
(TIKA), Turkish Ministry of Development, and SESRIC.

The immediate objective of the workshop is to expose and advance the
knowledge and understanding of participants in the area of
nanotechnology application areas. The participants will be trained on
the fundamentals of cleanroom use and safety; micro/nano-scale process
design and optimization; project and process specific equipment
training. First week of the workshop will feature theoretical lectures
on cleanroom micro/nano-fabrication process technologies as well as
state-of-the-art research seminars from prominent scholars on the
applications of cleanroom processes with a focus on Lab-on-a-Chip and
biological applications. Second week of the workshop will be devoted to
hands-on cleanroom laboratory practice which will include process and
characterization practice as well as equipment and technology
demonstrations by world-wide known equipment vendors.

The workshop will be organized at Bilkent University-UNAM, Ankara –
Turkey, the national center of excellence in nanotechnology, and will
bring together in total 40+ participants. 30 participants will be
selected from the international applications, based on their country,
scientific/technological background, and letter of intent. Applications
from research institutions, universities, governmental agencies, 
private
sector R&D laboratories/companies, and NGOs interested in the field of
nanotechnology are strongly recommended.
