FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
----------------------------------------------------------

The XVII National Conference of Astronomers of Serbia will take place in 
Belgrade
from September  23-27, 2014.  The Conference brings together specialists from 
Serbia
and from abroad in all fields of astronomy and related disciplines. It will be 
organized
in problem-oriented sessions that will include: invited review (plenary talk), 
invited
talk presentations of PhD and master theses completed since the preceding 
conference,
contributed talks and posters. The objective of the Conference is to cover as 
many topics
belonging to astronomy and related fields as possible.
With respect to this the following scheme is given:


1. Astrophysical spectroscopy
2. Stellar physics and physics of interstellar medium
3. Stellar and galactic systems
4. Astrometry, dynamical astronomy and planetology
5. Extragalactic astronomy and cosmology
6. Interdisciplinary studies (astrobiology, astrochemistry, geophysics, 
atmospheric physics, astronautics and space science)
7. History, philosophy and teaching of astronomy
8. Amateur astronomy, sociology of astronomy, astronomy in arts and culture

We welcome scientists from all over the world to join us, to present your 
newest studies,
to participate in active discussions, and to build future collaborative 
relationships.
A preliminary conference program will be given in the Second Announcement.

The regular assembly of Society of astronomers of Serbia (SAS) is scheduled for 
September 27th.
The agenda for this assembly will be prepared by the SAS president and other 
officials. The
Second Announcement (future Announcements) will contain a preliminary agenda.

The Abstract Book will be published before the Conference, the Proceedings 
shortly after it.

The official languages of the Conference are English and Serbian. There is no 
registration fee.
