Podsecamo vas da ce vanredni sastanak seminara Bioinformatika bice odrzan
ovog petka, 11. 12. u 18:15 casova na Matematickom fakultetu u bim sali na
4. spratu.  Predavac je prof. dr Cenk Sahinalp iz Centra za bioinformaticka
istrazivanja Fakulteta za informatiku I racunarstvo u Blumingtonu, u
Indijani, SAD. Oblast naucnog interesovanja prof. Sahinalp-a ukljucuje
bioinformatiku, teorijsko racunarstvo i algoritme a naslov predavanja je
"Data driven research in (cancer) genomics". Apstrakt predavanja mozete

Data driven research in (cancer) genomics

 

Sequencing projects involving thousands of individual genomes are underway
and the need for algorithmic speedup is bigger than ever. We will go through
some of the algorithmic developments introduced by my lab to address
challenges in big data genomics, especially for cancer research. These
algorithms involve one or more techniques in data compression, streaming,
memory hierarchy awareness and parallelization. Application areas range from
read mapping to variant calling, novel isoform and fusion gene
identification to clonality inference.
