Superconductivity in Quasi-2D Charge Density Wave Conductors

> Superconductivity and charge-density-wave (CDW) are traditionally
> viewed as Fermi surface instabilities due to electron-phonon coupling
> whereas arguments have been made both for their cooperation and
> competition. In copper oxides dome of high superconducting Tc exists
> at a rather complex phase diagram where disorder, magnetic and charge
> or charge density wave fluctuations are present. In this talk I will
> discuss characteristics of ZrTe3 and 2H-TaSe2 that feature charge
> density wave with superconducting domes in the absence of magnetism,
> albeit in the background of disorder and heavy-fermion-like electronic
> transport. For the first time in any CDW superconductor we present a
> double dome of superconductivity at the phase diagram. The results
> suggest high sensitivity of CDW to electronic anisotropy and disorder.
