Introduction to Fusion Plasma Physics

Course to be held at the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade, Serbia,
within visit CIII-AT-0063-14-1819-M-122062 in the framework of the CEEPUS
III-Agreement AT-0063 from 18th to 24th November 2018 (6 academic hours à 45
min) 

SHORT DESCRIPTION 

This course will offer an introduction to the various experimental methods
to realise the transformation of energy from controlled nuclear fusion. 

 1. Introduction

1.2. Lawson criterion, break even, ig-nition
1.3. Various possibilities of fusion plasma confinement 

2. Linear magnetic confinement schemes
2.1. Pinches and the interchange insta-bility
2.2. Mirror machines
2.3. Tandem mirror machines

3. Toroidal confinement schemes
3.1. The concept of toroidal confine-ment and the toroidal co-ordinate
system
3.2. Tokamaks
3.3. Stellarators and torsatrons 

4. Other types of fusion
4.1. Inertial fusion
4.2. Muon catalysed fusion
