Dear colleagues,
You are cordially invited to the SCL seminar of the Center for the Study of Complex Systems, which will be held on Thursday, 26 December 2019 at 14:00 in the library reading room “Dr. Dragan Popović" of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The talk entitled
Effect of local matter distribution on low-redshift supernova Ia analysis and Hubble constant measurement
will be given by Dr. Vladimir Luković (University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Italy). Abstract of the talk:
In this talk we will review one of the biggest problems in cosmology today, the H_0 tension, and introduce the main astrophysical observables used to estimate the value of present expansion rate of the Universe. As best standard candles in astrophysics, supernova explosions, specifically of type Ia, are crucial in estimation of distances in cosmology and also in the local measurement of present cosmic expansion rate. We will present how the local (~300 megaparsecs) geometry and cosmic matter distribution could affect the measurement of Hubble constant based on use of supernovae Ia, exploring therefore one of the proposed solutions to the H_0 problem.
Best regards,
Antun Balaž
