"Combining two extreme imaging frontiers in the quest for supermassive
binary black holes"
utorak, 28. februar 2023. godine, u 18 sati, u ucionici 809.
********
Imaging has always been and remains to be at the forefront of astronomical
research because it has two distinct frontiers.
One of the extreme ends consists of a fleet of large survey telescopes
that scan large regions of the entire sky in order to compile inventories
of objects that are ever more complete. On the opposite side is a
substantial population of greater
resolution and higher quality imaging tools, which are capable of scanning
individual objects with vision that is ever more sharp.
Understanding the nature of spacetime and gravity will be one of the
primary challenges of fundamental research in the future decades. The
entirety of the event that takes place in our universe occurs inside the
context of spacetime, which stands as the arena. Particular attention will
be paid to possible supermassive binary black holes
(SMBBH) as a source of 'ripples' in space-time.
New large surveys such as the Vera C. Rubin Legacy Survey of Space and
Time (LSST) can produce a view of the deep universe with a high cadence
over decade, making it possible to combine both extremes of
imaging frontiers.
We describe here a work that is now in progress to hybridise the LSST, and
nearby future sharp vision instruments quest for SMBBH.
This research is conducted by LSST SER-SAG Team.
