Dear colleagues,
A 2-year postdoctoral position is available in the research group led by Davor Davidović, PhD, at the Centre for Informatics and Computing, Ruđer Bošković Institute, Croatia, for the project "Scalable High-Performance Algorithms for Future Heterogeneous Distributed Computing Systems", funded by the Croatian Science Foundation. The postdoctoral position is in the area of heterogeneous and parallel computing and algorithm optimisation.
As part of the team, the postdoctoral researcher will be involved in conducting research in the field of high-performance linear algebra. In particular, this will include (depending on the candidate's interest and prior experience) the design and development of novel, highly scalable and portable linear algebra algorithms (e.g., eigenvalue solvers, matrix factorisation) for massively parallel and acceleration-based computing systems (supercomputers), the acceleration of codes through the use of mixed-precision arithmetic on GPUs, and the application of machine learning techniques to the solution of linear algebra problems and the automatic optimisation of algorithm parameters. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher will write scientific papers, give talks at conferences, participate in the development of new project proposals and guide PhD students. The candidate is expected to take an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving and collaborate with other research groups and laboratories at the Institute in solving complex computational problems in the fields of natural sciences and medicine.
Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in computer science, mathematics or physics and have an excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
Interested candidates are invited to express their interest by sending an email to Davor Davidovic (ddavid at irb.hr).
Best regards, Dusan
