Predavanje će održati  Prof. dr Sergei Popov, sa Sternberg Astronomskog 
Instituta u Moskvi.

Title: "Long-period radio transients"

Abstract:
A few years ago, a new class of astronomical sources was identified: 
long-period radio transients.
These sources are characterized by spin periods from several minutes up 
to several hours.
Mostly, their nature remains uncertain. Most probably, there are two 
types of objects: compact
white dwarf binaries with red dwarf companions and highly magnetized 
isolated neutron stars. I
n the talk, I discuss both approaches, review the present-day 
observational data, and present some
of our results (including work in progress). In the framework of the 
evolution of isolated neutron stars,
we discuss the origin and the fate of long-period radio transients 
(arXiv: 2309.12080).
Also, I present our detection of a radio burst from a white dwarf 
low-mass binary,
which can be similar to the activity of long-period radio transients.
