My group is working on theoretical high energy and nuclear physics, in particular on quark-gluon plasma (QGP). QGP is a new form of matter, which existed immediately after the Big Bang, and is today created at extreme energy densities in CERN (LHC experiments) and Brookhaven National Laboratory (RHIC experiments). The main idea of our research is probing properties of this new form of matter with high energy particles (partons), where our theoretical predictions are directly compared with the large amount of existing and upcoming experimental data from landmark science experiments (RHIC and LHC).

While all other energy loss treatments assume static scattering centers, I recently developed an energy loss formalism in a realistic finite size dynamical QCD medium. We arecurrently extending this - formalism, to allow the most realistic energy loss predictions in evolving QGP medium. Combing such energy loss predictions, with state-of-the-art simulations of QGP evolution, will allow extracting properties of this exciting form of matter from RHIC and LHC experimental data.
