Poštovane kolege,
Pozivam vas na Naučno-stručni skup koji će se održati u biblioteci AOB u
četvrtak 5.6. u 12h.
Ovoga puta ćemo imati dva gosta, tako da će prvo predavanje početi u
12h, a drugo oko 13h.
U nastavku su detaljnije informacije.
Predavač 1: dr Paola Marziani, INAF Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova,
Italy
Naslov predavanja: "The Main Sequence of Quasars and Its Implications in
Cosmology”
Kratak apstrakt:
The observed systematicity among key quasar spectral properties defines
a main sequence that offers insight into accretion physics and helps
unify the diverse phenomenology of type-1 active galactic nuclei (AGN).
This seminar summarizes recent advances in AGN research and explores the
observational and theoretical foundations of the quasar main sequence,
with emphasis on its dependence on physical parameters such as the
Eddington ratio. The framework is shown to connect different classes of
type-1 AGN and to deepen our understanding of accretion processes onto
supermassive black holes. Finally, the implications for cosmology are
considered, including the potential use of quasars as standardizable
distance indicators across cosmic time.
Predavač 2: Swayamtrupta Panda, Laboratório Nacional de Astrofísica –
MCTI, Brasil
Naslov predavanja: “Getting stronger with time - the many faces of the
Quasar Main Sequence”
Kratak apstrakt:
Black hole mass determination in active galaxies remains among the
fundamental questions in astrophysics - coupled with the information of
the luminosity output, one can infer the accretion power and reveal the
inner workings of these cosmic objects. I will discuss three novel BH
mass scaling relations inferred from three different regions around the
central supermassive black hole, starting from the further out narrow
line region, to the broad line region, and eventually to the accretion
disk. I will highlight some interesting science cases with the AGN
spectra and variability, including Changing-Look AGNs. In the second
part of my talk, I will introduce you to the spectro-imaging facilities
we have at NOIRLab, especially the current and future instruments in the
Gemini Observatory, and how you can request time through partners and
the open sky program.
